Here is the story, from beginning to end, of “Staging Society,” an event we held with our high school participants under the guidance of our instructors Cenk Saraçoğlu, Nazım Güveloğlu, and Gökhan Karaosmanoğlu.

During the day, we discussed the fundamental concepts of sociology and its key thinkers. In the evenings, these concepts and ideas came to life through characters, dialogue, movement, music, and staging during rehearsals. After all the discussions, rehearsals, collective thinking, and learning through trial and error, we created “Şifa Bizden” (Healing Is Up to Us), a play inspired by the Forum Theatre technique.

During the performance, audience members joined the participants’ acting with spontaneous interventions. The play thus became a collective discussion that transcended the boundary between the stage and the audience.
