This spring, as part of the “Artificial Intelligence, Society, and Science” series hosted by Village of Sciences Ankara, we invite you to an interdisciplinary exploration of AI across its historical, technical, and societal dimensions. Our sessions will cover a broad analytical spectrum—from political economy and Large Language Models (LLMs) to the nexus of energy and the environment, systemic inequalities, and the intersections of art, literature, and ethics.
The sixth session of the series, titled “Artificial Intelligence and Ethics,” will be conducted by Barış Parkan.
This seminar will interrogate the ethical dilemmas and risks—both current and prospective—that AI introduces to social life and human relations, while investigating potential regulatory and normative safeguards. In addition to evaluating these issues through the lens of traditional ethical theories and principles, we will engage in a rigorous re-examination of foundational concepts such as agency, autonomy, responsibility, and accountability.
Specific topics to be discussed include individual rights, equality, data security, fairness, misinformation, the misuse of AI, autonomous vehicles and weaponry, human-robot interaction, and transparency. The session will culminate in a comparative analysis of humanism in relation to post-humanism and transhumanism.
