Seminar: AI and Art/Literature I: Artificial Intelligence and Science Fiction

The Villages of Science Ankara continues its spring seminar series, "Artificial Intelligence, Society, and Science," where we explore the historical, technical, and social dimensions of AI. We invite you to join our sessions covering a broad spectrum of topics—from political economy and Large Language Models (LLMs) to energy-environmental impacts, social inequalities, art, literature, and ethical debates.

For decades, science fiction literature treated artificial intelligence as a primary theme—yet always framed it within a distant future, as an almost unreachable dream. Today, however, generative AI tools have become an integral part of our daily lives.

In this session, we will address a question at the very heart of this transformation: What is the relationship between the "new AI" at our doorstep and the prognostications of science fiction? Drawing upon seminal works of the genre, we will examine the AI imagined by authors alongside the reality we experience today.

The eighth and final session of our series, "AI and Art/Literature 2: Artificial Intelligence and Science Fiction," will be presented by İnan Utku Türkmen.

Venue: Route Selanik; Meşrutiyet, Selanik Cd. No:70, Çankaya/Ankara
