Prince Muhammad bin Fahd University

Specialized in the philosophy of the life sciences, Ozan Altınok currently serves as an assistant professor at Prince Muhammad bin Fahd University, with research affiliations at the University of Johannesburg and the University of Freiburg Young Academy of Culutres Research. His academic trajectory is uniquely grounded in a BS in molecular biology and genetics, followed by an MA in philosophy at METU and a PhD in philosophy from the University of Münster (2021), where he focused on philosophy of evolutionary medicine. His research explores the conceptual and epistemic relationships at the interface of biology and medicine, particularly on reductionism, emergence, and conceptual engineering at epistemology and science governance, global research ethics, and perspectives from disability studies, refined through extensive postdoctoral work at CELLS, Leibniz University of Hannover (2021–2025) on projects involving regenerative biology and cosmopolitanism. With a focus on the philosophy of biology and science and technology studies (STS), he has held international fellowships at Boston University, Brocher Foundation, and the University of Tartu, consistently bridging the gap between biological practice and philosophical inquiry into health, disability, and epistemic injustice.
